June 6-14, 2020 is National Fishing & Boating Week (NFBW). NFBW occurs every year, and recognizes recreational fishing and boating, and what it provides as some of our favorite outdoor recreational pursuits. NFBW commemorates the value that recreational boating and fishing brings to communities, the economy, and conservation. During NFBW all states provide free fishing days – some offer free fishing weekends - to encourage people to pursue fishing on public waters without a fishing license requirement.

Below are links to each state agency’s website for more information on where to fish, how to fish, or how to obtain a fishing license.

Your opinion counts

The use of descending devices to safely release your catch has shown they significantly reduce the discard mortality of fish caught from deep water. Reducing discard mortality in both the commercial and recreational sector will translate to more abundant populations and additional access opportunities for anglers. Do you support the use of descending devices while reef fishing to safely release your catch?
