What Committees or Caucuses have you been affiliated with in office that support the sportsmen's community and fish and wildlife conservation?

This is my first term in office, but I am excited to continue advocating on behalf of Ohio sportsmen and women as a member of the Sportsmen’s Caucus.

What is your top policy priority for the sportsmen and women in your state?

Recruiting new people who are interested in the outdoors as well as conserving and increasing natural habitat.

What is your most memorable outdoor (hunting, fishing, recreation shooting, or trapping) experience?

Some of my fondest memories of the outdoors are from when I would go hunting and fishing as a boy with my grandfather. Those memories keep me going outside to foster similar memories in this generation of young people.

What is your favorite fish or game to pursue?

Walleye. Second favorite is smallmouth bass in Lake Erie, Ashtabula Harbor.

What hunting, fishing, shooting, trapping or other related organizations are you a member of?

Lifetime member of the NRA.

What do you consider the biggest obstacle to recruiting new participants to hunting, angling, recreation shooting and trapping?

Getting young people offline and outside is the biggest obstacle the sportsmen’s community is facing. Kids these days would rather hunt or fish on a video game than do the real thing and that is a serious problem for our community.

Do you have other insights or thoughts that you would like to share about your state’s rich outdoor heritage?

Ohio’s natural beauty can compete with any other area in the country. I encourage anyone visiting to get in the woods and explore the rivers and streams (especially the Mahoning Valley).

Your opinion counts

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
