Maine: Luncheon Draws Attendance from Congressional, Governors and State Caucuses

Contact: Joe Mullin, New England States Coordinator

On April 18, members of the Maine Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus hosted a Caucus luncheon at the Capitol.

Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation New England States Coordinator Joe Mullin was joined by Caucus legislators, and staffers representing the offices of Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) and Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) members. Attendees had the opportunity to discuss the key issues the Caucus is working on to advance the interests of Maine’s sportsmen and women such as An Act to Enhance Fish and Wildlife Laws (LD 490).

The Caucus has been gathering for luncheons on a monthly basis and anticipates more events will be held before the close of the 2019 legislative session.

The luncheon was organized by Norman Hanson & DeTroy, LLC and was sponsored by the Maine Professional Guides Association.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
