After conducting a survey earlier this spring of anglers statewide, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is proposing a few changes to current fishing regulations. The goal of the proposed changes is to increase angler satisfaction and ensure the sustainability of the various fisheries throughout the state. Survey results indicated that the majority of anglers were supportive of the proposed recommendations.

Additionally, the DWR is proposing changes to the current fishing contest rule in a concentrated effort to streamline contest options and create consistency between warm water and coldwater species. The proposed changes would only require a fishing contest or tournament to obtain a Certificate of Registration if it included any of the following:
