Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation and Ducks Unlimited Formalize Partnership to Advance Conservation Goals

Partnership will enhance shared legislative priorities

The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) and Ducks Unlimited (DU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support the organizations’ shared mission of advancing conservation to benefit sportsmen and women across the country.

The memorandum strengthens a longtime partnership between the two organizations. The groups will increase collaboration and engagement on state-based policy issues that involves state legislators in the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) network and DU state chapters. DU also will expand its support of the NASC Annual Summit, bringing awareness of DU’s wetlands and waterfowl conservation mission to legislators and other conservation partners.

At the federal level, DU is instrumental in sportsmen’s policy issues such as including a robust conservation title in the 2018 Farm Bill and supporting conservation programs under the North American Wetlands Conservation Act. Similarly, CSF works on a wide array of federal issues by providing support and guidance to the bipartisan Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC).

CSF and DU will together advance other federal priorities including Recovering America’s Wildlife Act and National Wildlife Refuge System policy, among others.

“Ducks Unlimited is a leader in advancing wetlands and waterfowl conservation programs across the country and a valued partner to CSF,” said CSF President Jeff Crane. “CSF looks forward to strengthening our partnership with Ducks Unlimited, collaborating on priority federal and state policy efforts for sportsmen’s conservation.”

“Throughout American history, sportsmen and women have achieved some of the greatest legislative successes for conservation,” said Dale Hall, DU CEO. “Ducks Unlimited is proud to grow our partnership with Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation. The need for our outdoors enthusiasts today to make their voice heard is crucial for future hunters, anglers and trappers.”

About CSF

Since 1989, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) has maintained a singleness of purpose that has guided the organization to become the most respected and trusted sportsmen’s organization in the political arena. CSF’s mission is to work with Congress, governors, and state legislatures to protect and advance hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping. The unique and collective force of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC), the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) and the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC), working closely with CSF, and with the support of major hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping organizations, serves as an unprecedented network of pro-sportsmen elected officials that advance the interests of America’s hunters and anglers.

About DU

Ducks Unlimited Inc. is the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving North America’s continually disappearing waterfowl habitats. Established in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 14 million acres thanks to contributions from more than a million supporters across the continent. Guided by science and dedicated to program efficiency, DU works toward the vision of wetlands sufficient to fill the skies with waterfowl today, tomorrow and forever. For more information on our work, visit www.ducks.org.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
