Contentious Topics Bring Colorado Sportsmen and Women to the Virtual Table

On January 28, the Colorado Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus (Caucus) held its first virtual briefing and over 130 participants tuned-in.

The agenda was filled with a variety of subject matter experts to address timely topics pertinent to Colorado’s outdoor sporting community. Topics that were discussed included:

The virtual briefing gave participants an opportunity to see friendly faces and get brought up-to-speed on key issues in the state. Notable attendees included current and past Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commissioners, 2020 Caucus Co- Chairs Representative Jeni Arndt and Representative Jim Wilson, Caucus Member Representative Perry Will, Colorado Parks and Wildlife Director Dan Prenzlow, and others.

The Caucus plans to host virtual briefings every third Thursday of the month through the legislative session.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
