CSF Fisheries Program Director Appointed to Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council

Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) Senior Fisheries Program Director Chris Horton was recently appointed to serve on the Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council (SFBPC) by Interior Secretary David Bernhardt.

“It’s both an honor and a privilege to be selected to serve on the Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council,” said CSF’s Chris Horton, Senior Director, Midwestern States/Fisheries Program. “The Council serves an important role in advising the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Department of Interior on both challenges and opportunities for America’s anglers and boaters. As an avid participant in both, I look forward to the chance to bring my perspective to the Council.”

Horton joins 18 other fisheries experts and conservation leaders from across the country on the SFBPC, including several CSF partners: Jeff Angers of Center for Sportfishing Policy; Dave Bulthuis of Costa Del Mar Sunglasses; Gene Gilliland of B.A.S.S. LLC; Glenn Hughes of American Sportfishing Association; Scott Kovarovics of Izaak Walton League of America; and Nicole Vasilaros of National Marine Manufacturers Association.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
