During the week of August 7, Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) States Program Team members traveled from across the country to attend and host a booth at the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Legislative Summit in Boston, Massachusetts.
Several members of the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) program, their staff, and allied organizations and industry partners stopped by to discuss hunting, angling, recreational shooting, and trapping policy priorities as well as ideas for strengthening their respective state legislative sportsmen’s caucuses.
Additionally, CSF staff educated attendees on both the impact of hunting and angling on their states’ economies, as well as the funding that is generated by their state’s sportsmen and women through the American System of Conservation Funding, a “user pays – public benefits” system that is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.
“The many members of the NASC program present at NCSL from across the country is yet another indication of the strength of hunters and anglers,” said NASC Executive Council Vice-President Representative Brian White (SC) who joined CSF staff at the booth. “The NASC program, administered by CSF, is a vital tool for protecting and advancing the sporting traditions that are important to millions of Americans.”
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
