Southeast: Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation Attends Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Annual Conference

Contact: John Culclasure, Central Appalachian States Manager

On October 27-30, Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) Southeastern States Director Bee Frederick and Central Appalachian States Manager John Culclasure attended the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies 73rd Annual Conference in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

The conference brought together state fish and wildlife agency staff, wildlife and land management federal agencies, hunting and fishing conservation organizations, students, businesses and other natural resource professionals from Southern states for educational and networking opportunities.

The conference’s technical sessions, presentations and roundtables covered topics including conservation funding, hunter recruitment, retention and reactivation, Asian carp, feral hogs, forest management, and prescribed fire, among others.

CSF staff thanks all of the state agency personnel in the Southeast, and across the country, for the tireless work done on behalf of conservation and appreciates the continued partnership working together with state legislative sportsmen’s caucuses.

The conference will be held in Missouri next year, and CSF staff looks forward to connecting with partners at the conference again.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
