Recently, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee joined the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC), a bipartisan group of governors from across the country dedicated to the interests of sportsmen and women.
“Tennessee is rich with abundant natural resources and opportunities for sporting in each Grand Division. Having grown up hunting and fishing, I am proud to join the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus and look forward to protecting and advancing these pastimes as well as the significant associated economic impact,” said Gov. Lee.
An avid sportsman, Gov. Lee grew up on his family’s farm and has always been an advocate for wildlife conservation and outdoor recreation.
Gov. Lee joins a network of pro-sportsmen elected officials in Tennessee, including Members of the Tennessee Congressional delegation and Tennessee Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, which is led by Co-Chairs Senator Mike Bell and Representative Jeremy Faison in the state legislature.
These elected officials work to promote the interests of nearly 1 million hunters and anglers who contribute more than $62 million to conservation efforts annually in Tennessee.
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
