Ducks Unlimited’s Adam Putnam Talks Waterfowl, Conservation Wins, and Inspiring Future Wildlife Scientists

Fred is joined by Adam Putnam, the CEO of Ducks Unlimited to discuss a slew of recent policy successes (and challenges!) in the sporting community, including the Duck Stamp Modernization Act and the America’s Conservation Enhancement (ACE) Reauthorization Act. Putnam also dives deep into the current state of waterfowl conservation, the importance of habitat improvement, the state of brood production and counting in a drought environment and the need to engage and educate the next generation of wildlife scientists and conservationists. Adam Putnam also talks about his love of hunting sea ducks and highlights the importance of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation in advancing the cause of hunting and angling.

  • Conservation Wins For American Waterfowlers: The Duck Stamp Modernization Act and the America’s Conservation Enhancement Act are examples of successful bipartisan legislation for sportsmen.
  • Brood Production Is Increasing: Waterfowl populations have rebounded over the past 40 years, thanks to programs like the Duck Stamp Program and the North American Wetlands Conservation Act.
  • Habitat As The Path Forward: Habitat preservation is crucial for waterfowl and other species, and partnerships with ranchers and farmers can be beneficial for conservation efforts.
  • Young Waterfowl Enthusiasts Are The Future: Engaging and educating the next generation of wildlife scientists and conservationists is essential for the future of hunting and angling.
