On June 22, California legislators, including members of the California Legislature Outdoor Sporting Caucus, representatives from various sportsmen’s organizations, and outdoor industry leaders came together for the Caucus’ Annual Trap and Skeet Shoot in Rancho Cordova, California.
At the event, Caucus Co-Chairs Senator John Moorlach and Assembly Members Brian Dahle and Jim Frazier highlighted the important role the Caucus plays in maintaining California’s hunting, recreational fishing, and trapping traditions. Wardens from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife were also in attendance, and generously donated their time to teach participants about firearm safety.
“I had the pleasure of attending the [Trap and Skeet Shoot] for the first time last June,” said Senator John Moorlach, one of the Caucus’ four Co-Chairs. “This year, as one of the Outdoor Sporting Caucus Co-Chairs, it is my honor to host it and meet this year’s attendees. My advice: Don’t miss it.”
“This experience helps people recognize that sport shooting and hunting is an enjoyable hobby and important component of habitat management,” said Assembly Member Frazier.
The bipartisan and bicameral Caucus, a member of the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC), is an important forum for educating legislators about the many social and economic contributions of California’s 1.8 million hunters and anglers. The Caucus serves to protect and enhance California’s wildlife habitats and to further the understanding and acceptance of outdoor activities throughout the state. The Caucus plays an important role in supporting the interests of California’s sportsmen and women, as well as providing a bipartisan voice for outdoor sporting issues within the State Legislature.
