The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is accepting applications for the Game Management Advisory Council (Council), which works closely with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation.
The Council works with WDFW in advancing its mission to protect and perpetuate fish, wildlife and ecosystems while providing sustainable fish and wildlife recreational and commercial opportunities. The Councils also assists WDFW in working with livestock producers, hunters and other stakeholders to advise on issues from hunter-access opportunities, to funding options, and research projects.
The Council provides a broad range of perspectives to help inform and discuss the many different aspects of WDFW’s Game Management Plan and provides WDFW staff with recommendations for addressing current game management issues, including:
Participation in the Council is a volunteer opportunity. Members of the Council serve 1-3 year terms with three meetings per year. Council members must be Washington residents.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades.
