Recently, the bicameral and bipartisan West Virginia Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus (Caucus) announced the addition of two new Co-Chairs of the Caucus, Senator Bill Hamilton and Delegate Eric Householder.
“I’m excited to help lead the West Virginia Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus and look forward to working with the DNR, the West Virginia sportsmen’s community, and my colleagues in the Caucus to advance policies that will benefit our state’s sportsmen and women,” said Delegate Householder.
“West Virginia has a rich sporting heritage, and I’m honored to serve as Co-Chair of the West Virginia Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus to protect the interests of hunters and anglers to ensure that our sporting traditions carry on to the next generation,” said Senator Hamilton.
Co-Chairing the Caucus alongside Senator Ron Stollings, Senator Hamilton and Delegate Householder join a network of pro-sportsmen elected officials in West Virginia, including members of the West Virginia Congressional delegation and Governor Sportsmen’s Caucus Member Governor Jim Justice, that are committed to supporting West Virginia’s hunters and anglers.
The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation is thankful for the leadership of Senator Hamilton and Delegate Householder as they work to protect and advance the interests of the Mountain State’s 447,000 sportsmen and women who contribute $1.18 billion to the state’s economy and last year alone generated more than $25.35 million for conservation through the American System of Conservation Funding.
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
