On September 25, the CSF Northeast regional event was held in Harrisburg, PA. This year’s event consisted of a breakfast briefing on the energy production-conservation nexus, and focused specifically on the issue of natural gas exploration and development throughout the Marcellus shale play. Over the years there have proven to be both drawbacks as well as many positive aspects of this development on fish and wildlife conservation and opportunities for sportsmen throughout the region. The event brought together the Pennsylvania Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Governor Corbett’s Advisory Council for Hunting, Fishing, and Conservation, legislative staff, and industry partners to discuss in detail the current state of shale gas exploration and development on conservation in and around Pennsylvania.
