On June 17, the Pennsylvania Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus hosted their Annual Cigar Reception at the Susquehanna Ale House in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Approximately 120 people attended the event, including over 60 members of the Pennsylvania Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley, key staff from the Fish and Boat Commission including Executive Director John Arway, and many allied-industry partners and representatives from in-state and national sportsmen’s conservation organizations.
The evening provided an opportunity for networking and discussion on many critical sportsmen’s issues between and among a variety of stakeholders interested in advancing the sportsmen’s traditions in Pennsylvania. Working with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) in a coordinated manner, the Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus works to protect and advance the interests of Pennsylvania’s 1,424,000 sportsmen and women. Spending a total of 28.4 million days enjoying their pursuits, these sportsmen and women spent $1.5 billion in 2011, which supported roughly the same number of jobs in the state as Pennsylvania State University, the third largest employer in the state (24,797 vs. 25,000).
Representative Marc Gergely, Co-Chair of the Caucus and Member of the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses Executive Council, said, “This year’s reception showcased a strong spirit of cooperation between various stakeholder groups. By working together we will ensure Pennsylvania sportsmen and women have their voices heard in Harrisburg. I want to personally thank all of those who attended the event and our many fine sponsors for their continued support of the Pennsylvania Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus.”
CSF would like to thank the many fine sponsors who made this year’s event possible, including: Bass Pro Shops, Hunters Sharing the Harvest, Keystone Elk Country Alliance, the Marcellus Shale Coalition, the National Rifle Association, Peoples Natural Gas, Range Resources, Remington, Safari Club International, S.R. Wojdak & Associates, and Southwestern Energy.

To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
