Policy Briefing – May 14

Event Date: May 14, 2026 Event Time: 8:30am - 9:30am Location: Rayburn Gold Room, DC

Join us for a briefing on one of the most pressing issues facing wildlife – habitat connectivity.

The migration of animals is a fascinating and inspiring phenomenon. Many of our nation’s wildlife need to annually migrate to survive, including birds, monarch butterflies, salmon, mule deer, elk, and pronghorn, to name a few. Unfortunately, these life-sustaining movements are challenged by an increasingly fragmented landscape. For our terrestrial species, roads, fences, housing development, and deteriorating habitat conditions all negatively contribute to the sustainability of our migratory species.

Fragmented landscapes have consequences beyond wildlife populations and sustainable habitats – humans are impacted too. For example, each year there are over 1 million collisions between vehicles and large wildlife, sadly resulting in over 200 human deaths annually.

This briefing will provide an opportunity to hear from diverse panelists representing energy, state government, sportsmen and women, and other stakeholders who have a vested interest in enhancing habitat connectivity.
