Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) Member Congressman Mike Thompson (CA), was recently appointed to the Migratory Bird Convention Commission by CSC Member and Speaker of the House, Congressman John Boehner (OH). Replacing former CSC Member, the Honorable John Dingell (MI), Rep. Thompson joins CSC Co-Chair Congressman Rob Wittman (VA) and CSC Member Senator Thad Cochran (MS).
Established in 1929 along with the Migratory Bird Conservation Act, it authorizes and approves areas of land and water recommended by the Secretary of Interior for purchase or rental by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. In addition, the Commission considers the establishment of new waterfowl refuges.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades.
