The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada for the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s (NSSF) annual SHOT Show, and hosted a reception on January 21 at the Palms Casino Resort.
SHOT Show, the largest hunting and shooting sports trade show, brings together firearm retailers, outdoor media, and recreational shooting and hunting organizations. As many of the attendees include CSF Board of Directors members, Chairman’s Club members, and other CSF partners, SHOT Show provided an opportunity to gather CSF supporters to discuss sportsmen’s priorities for the New Year and celebrate recent successes.
CSF President Jeff Crane welcomed the nearly 200 guests to the reception. “We are starting off this year with strong support from our partners and we look forward to many policy successes in Washington, DC, and throughout the states.” Crane also presented Member of Parliament Garry Breitkreuz with an award for exemplary legislative leadership. M.P. Breitkreuz Co-Chairs the Parliamentary Outdoor Caucus of Canada, and has been a fundamental part of expanding the voice of sportsmen-legislators in Canada.
CSF Board Chairman and CEO of ATK Mark DeYoung introduced Board members and other supporters. “I am honored to be the incoming Chairman for the Foundation and I am completely committed to strengthening the organization along with the help of our great Board,” said DeYoung. “It’s great to see so many supporters here. It shows the importance of this cause, and how passionate we are about the great outdoors.”
During the reception, a PSA video provided by Orion Entertainment was unveiled. The PSA speaker, actor Gerald McRaney, also spoke at the event.
The reception was made possible by its Hosts: ATK, Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, Hornady Manufacturing Company, InterMedia Outdoors, and the Sportsman Channel.
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
