CSF Supports Efforts to Advance Sportsmen’s Priorities on Capitol Hill

This week, Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) President Jeff Crane met with Members of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) as well as the newly appointed Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, to collaborate on upcoming sportsmen’s priorities at both legislative and administrative levels.

Crane met with CSC Co-Chair Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC) to discuss the development of a legislative sportsmen’s package in the House, and the priority provisions to be included for hunting and angling as well as public access and fish and wildlife conservation.

CSC Member Congressman Don Young (AK) and Crane discussed the reintroduction of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act. This legislation was developed from a recommendation by the Blue Ribbon Panel on Sustaining America’s Diverse Fish and Wildlife Resources, to dedicate $1.3 billion annually to the Wildlife Conservation Restoration Program to conserve 12,000 species in the greatest need. During the 114th Congress, Rep. Young and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI) cosponsored this bill.

Finally, Crane met with Secretary Zinke to discuss implementation of his recent Order No. 3347, on “Conservation Stewardship and Outdoor Recreation,” in which the purpose is to “enhance conservation stewardship, increase outdoor recreation, and improve the management of game species and their habitat.”

“CSF remains committed to advancing sportsmen’s policy priorities on Capitol Hill by working with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus as well as federal agencies and the Administration,” said Crane.

To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
