The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) and Pheasants Forever Inc., and Quail Forever (PF/QF) are pleased to announce a new partnership established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that was signed today at the 12th Annual National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) Annual Sportsman-Legislator Summit in Manchester, Vermont.
The MOU joins CSF, the leading organization for sportsmen and women in the political arena, and PF/QF, the leading conservation organization dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife, together to strengthen the long-term relationship between the two organizations, and ultimately to further protect and advance the future of hunting and upland wildlife management in the United States.
Both CSF and PF/QF possess resources designed to advance conservation goals benefitting sportsmen and women. Defining and establishing a recognized partnership between CSF and PF/QF – primarily within each state, but also at the national level – will allow each organization to leverage the other’s abilities and become increasingly effective at promoting science-based wildlife management and protecting our hunting heritage for future generations.
“Protecting and advancing our cherished outdoor traditions requires a coordinated effort, and recognition of the individual strengths each member of the sportsmen’s community brings,” said CSF President Jeff Crane. “Conservation partnerships such as this one between CSF and PF/QF will help advance our common goals and allow us to more effectively provide a voice for America’s sportsmen and women in the political arena.”
“As the most influential sportsmen’s organization at the highest political levels, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation is a key partner of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever for the delivery of sound conservation policy,” stated Howard K. Vincent, President and CEO of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. “The Memorandum of Understanding creates a unified front for our organizations to continue working on some the most important issues facing sportsmen and women today, including funding for conservation and increased public access.“
PF/QF has been a partner of CSF on many levels over the years, and has supported the work of both the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) as well as NASC members across the country. CSF and PF/QF now look forward to an even greater level of collaboration in the development of a long-term strategy for success that will provide additional support to the 48 state legislative sportsmen’s caucuses and over 2,000 state legislators who are members of the NASC.
About CSF
Since 1989 CSF has maintained a singleness of purpose that has guided the organization to become the most respected and trusted sportsmen’s organization in the political arena. CSF’s mission is to work with Congress, governors, and state legislatures to protect and advance hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping. The unique and collective force of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC), the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) and the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC), working closely with CSF, and with the support of major hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping organizations, serves as an unprecedented network of pro-sportsmen elected officials that advance the interests of America’s hunters and anglers.
About PF/QF
Pheasants Forever, including its quail conservation division, Quail Forever, is the nation’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to upland habitat conservation. Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have more than 140,000 members and 700 local chapters across the United States and Canada. Chapters are empowered to determine how 100 percent of their locally raised conservation funds are spent; the only national conservation organization that operates through this truly grassroots structure. Since creation in 1982, Pheasants Forever has spent $577 million on 489,000 habitat projects benefiting 12 million acres nationwide.
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
