On December 29, Idaho Governor Brad Little became the twenty-ninth member of the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC).
“As a lifelong sportsman, I am proud to join the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus,” Governor Little said. “Hunting and fishing are built into the culture of Idaho, and we will continue to safeguard the legacy of our shared outdoor sporting heritage.”
Coming off of an extremely successful 2020 session for the sportsmen and women of Idaho, the GSC is excited about the addition of Governor Little. Last year, Governor Little enacted 11 pieces of pro-sportsmen legislation, including but not limited to the establishment of a swan season, expansion of the upland game bird hunting program, creation of the Shooting Ranges Fund to expand recreational shooting opportunities in the state, reducing the archery and muzzleloader license fee for disabled American veterans, and removing a loophole in the Idaho Code that could have been exploited by individuals charged with poaching of a single animal.

He and his family know the value of good land management, sharing our sporting heritage with future generations and protecting access and opportunities for sportsmen and women in Idaho now and in the future. Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
