The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) is deeply saddened to report that Senator Wayne Norman, Co-Chair of the Maryland Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 4. He was appointed to the Maryland State Assembly in 2008, elected to a full term in 2010, and had been serving as a State Senator since 2014. Our entire organization would like to send our condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and constituents he leaves behind.
Sen. Norman grew up goose hunting on the Eastern Shore with his father and was an avid proponent of using his role as a legislator to ensure that future generations have opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and served on the Maryland House Environmental Matters committee for seven years.
CSF appreciates Sen. Norman’s long-standing commitment to protecting and advancing hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping throughout Maryland.
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
