CSF Fisheries Program Director to Testify on Magnuson-Stevens Act Reauthorization

On September 12, Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) Fisheries Program Director Chris Horton will testify before the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and Coast Guard on the reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSA).

The Committee hearing, which is scheduled for 2:30 pm EST, will include a panel of recreational angler representatives, including Horton, Phil Faulkner, President of Nautic Star Boats, and Jim Donofrio, Executive Director of the Recreational Fishing Alliance. Panelists will talk about the successes and challenges of MSA from both the angling and boating community.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
