CSF Joins with Firearms and Hunting Industry Partners to Support Canterbury Nomination to lead ATF

On November 12, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) joined with other partners in the firearms and hunting community to support the nomination of Kenneth Charles “Chuck” Canterbury, Jr. to be the next director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

Eleven organizations, including CSF, penned a letter to Senator Lindsay Graham, which stated in part, “Chuck Canterbury would bring 26 years of proven executive law enforcement and management experience to bear at ATF. As a Senate-confirmed Director, he would ensure that ATF steps into the 21st century by modernizing its regulatory processes and utilizing existing technology to perform its job. He would also ensure that ATF only enforces the laws Congress passes and would provide the necessary stopgap to prevent ATF from adopting any further regulations or policy interpretations that exceed its statutory authority.”

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
