CSF Staff Joins Conservation Communication Professionals for Annual Conference

From July 29 through August 1, Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) staff Bee Frederick (Southeastern States Director) and Sara Leonard (Policy and Communications Manager) met with state fish and wildlife, and state natural resources department communications professionals in Springfield, Missouri to discuss successes and challenges from the past year.

This year’s Association for Conservation Information (ACI) conference gathered communications staff from 42 different state agencies with representatives from sportsmen’s and other conservation groups. During the conference, attendees discussed various conservation communication strategies and successful programs for promoting conservation and outdoor recreation to the public.

Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to visit Johnny Morris’s Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium, located next to the original Bass Pro Shops in Springfield.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
