Nevada Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus Co-Chair Senator Debbie Smith passed away on February 21 at the age of 60 after a long battle with a malignant brain tumor.
Senator Smith was the driving force behind the creation of the Nevada Sportsmen’s Caucus in 2012, and was a strong voice for sportsmen and women in the state Capitol, working closely with fellow Caucus Members and members of the state’s sportsmen’s community to protect and advance the interests of Nevada’s hunters and anglers. In addition to serving as the Co-Chair of the Nevada Sportsmen’s Caucus, Senator Smith had also served as President of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).
Our thoughts are with Senator Smith’s family as we remember her commitment to serving her constituents and the sportsmen and women of Nevada.
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
