Why It Matters: The NASC Executive Council exists to assist the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) in their state-based advocacy efforts on behalf of sportsmen and women. Elected by their peers at the annual National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) Sportsman-Legislator Summit, the EC is a bipartisan group comprised of state legislators from around the country. Utilizing their knowledge and experience as elected officials, the Executive Council advises CSF’s States Program Team to ensure the continued growth and success of the NASC Network.
Highlights:
- In late August, members of the NASC Executive Council met in Soldotna, Alaska for their annual Midyear Meeting.
- During the meeting, members of the Executive Council shared their observations from the most recent legislative sessions, working closely with CSF staff to advise and inform the organization’s state-based efforts for the remainder of the year.
- The meeting represents one of the nation’s most engaging gathering of pro-sportsmen state legislators designed to inform the advocacy efforts of the sporting-conservation community.
During the last week of August, members of the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Cuacuses (NASC) Executive Council met in Soldotna, AK for their annual Midyear Meeting. This meeting, co-hosted with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation’s States Program Team, included three days of meetings and fellowship designed to reflect on the most recent state legislative sessions, while setting the stage for CSF’s state efforts throughout the remainder of the year.
Executive Council President Representative Jeff Wardlaw (AR) presided over the meeting alongside CSF staff. This meeting allowed CSF to report on nationwide themes that were observed and the success of CSF’s recent increase in proactive advocacy efforts. In exchange, members of the Executive Council provided state-specific commentary necessary to facilitate conversations on nationwide engagement which helps inform and guide CSF’s efforts moving forward.
The Midyear Meeting is also important as CSF finalizes plans for the upcoming NASC Sportsman-Legislator Summit scheduled for December 9-12 in Memphis, TN. Additional information on the NASC Summit, as well as registration options, can be found at www.nascsummit.org. Early bird registration ends soon!
CSF would again like to thank this year’s Midyear Meeting sponsors: Alaska Outdoor Council, David Wilson, Jennifer Yuhas, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Union Sportsmen’s Alliance.
