On February 2, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) Senior Director of Northeastern States Brent Miller and New England States Coordinator Joe Mullin presented at the 2019 National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) New England Leadership Conference in Concord, New Hampshire.
The conference brought together regional NWTF chapter presidents and volunteers, national staff, and other partners. The robust conference agenda featured topics including Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation (R3) programs; recent biological research; and key policy issues.
Miller and Mullin presented CSF’s mission of working with Congress, governors, and state legislatures to protect and advance hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping. The presentation focused on members of the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) and Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) in the region, as well as some of the key bills that each state is working on related to the interests of sportsmen and women. The engagement concluded with a question and answer period, which facilitated an open discussion about the many bills that have been proposed within the region, as well as ways volunteers can interact and strengthen their relationships with their state legislative sportsmen caucuses and CSF.
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
