Northeast: Regional Suppressor Shoot

On March 4, state legislative sportsmen’s caucus members joined with fish and wildlife agency staff from Massachusetts and Rhode Island for an educational suppressor demonstration at the Worcester Pistol and Rifle Club in Boylston, Massachusetts.

The event began with a presentation by Mr. Knox Williams, President and Executive Director of the American Suppressor Association (ASA), who discussed the numerous benefits of firearm suppressors, not only for recreational shooting, but for hunting as well. There was then a robust Q&A session where attendees discussed how the technology works, the current laws surrounding suppressor ownership, the contrast between America’s views on suppressors (derived largely from inaccurate Hollywood representations), and how many nations in Europe and elsewhere encourage their use afield. Attendees then took to the range where they were able to see, feel and hear the positive difference using firearm suppressors provides, not only for the shooter, but for those around them as well.

CSF would like to thank the American Suppressor Association for organizing the event, and the Gun Owners Action League of Massachusetts, National Rifle Association, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Sig Sauer, SilencerCo, and Yankee Hill Machine for their support and participation.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
