National Hunting and Fishing Day Proclamation Resource Center

Over the past few months, more than 38 bipartisan governors from across the country, including numerous Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) members, have signed proclamations or similar issuances recognizing National Hunting and Fishing day on Saturday, September 23.

Among the governors who signed proclamations were GSC Co-Chairs Governor Steve Bullock (MT) and Governor Phil Bryant (MS) along with Vice-Chairs Governor Matt Mead (WY) and Governor Tom Wolf (PA). In addition, Governor Sam Brownback (KS), Governor Pete Ricketts (NE), and Governor Kim Reynolds (IA) hosted signing ceremonies, which were attended by Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) staff and representatives from other sportsmen’s conservation groups.

National Hunting and Fishing Day celebrates the contributions of sportsmen and women, America’s true conservationists, through recognizing the American System of Conservation Funding (ASCF). The ASCF is  a “user pays – public benefits” program, which directs excise taxes on sporting equipment, including firearms, ammunition, and motorboat fuel as well as revenue from hunting and fishing licenses, towards fish and wildlife conservation efforts. This year marks ASCF’s 80th Anniversary, and the 45th National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Below are proclamations signed by governors across the country, recognizing National Hunting and Fishing Day on September 23, 2017.
