CSF Honorary Board Member Richard Childress Appointed National Hunting & Fishing Day Honorary Chair

Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) Honorary Board of Directors member Richard Childress was recently appointed as Honorary Chair of 2017 National Hunting and Fishing Day, which will take place on September 23. An avid sportsman who understands the contributions of hunters and anglers, Childress has been a dedicated supporter of CSF for over 10 years.

National Hunting and Fishing Day recognizes the contributions that America’s hunters and anglers make to conservation and scientific wildlife management. Sportsmen’s and other conservation organizations host events across the country on this annual day to educate locals about hunting, fishing, recreational shooting, firearm safety, and about the economic impact of sportsmen and women through the American System of Conservation Funding.

In addition to his successful career as owner of Richard Childress Racing and NASCAR Hall of Famer with more than 200 NASCAR victories, Childress is passionate about giving back to fish and wildlife conservation. Each year, a chairman or chairwoman who has shown a commitment to advancing the hunting and fishing traditions, is selected to lead national efforts for National Hunting and Fishing Day.

CSF joins several organizations and businesses as an official sponsor of 2017 National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
