The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) has joined several partners from the sportsmen’s community to sponsor a volunteer clean-up effort on public land in Arizona. As a popular outdoor recreation destination, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) managed Box Canyon area provides access and opportunity for hunters and shooters in the Phoenix area to practice their craft and zero their rifles in before hunting season begins. However, due to heavy use by the public, Box Canyon requires periodic clean-up in order to maintain the site and ensure future access.
Working with partners including Tread Lightly!, BLM, Safari Club International (SCI), the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the Arizona Game and Fish Department, the National Rifle Association (NRA), and the Public Lands Foundation, CSF is encouraging those interested in volunteering to spend a morning helping to maintain this site that provides recreational access to numerous Arizona sportsmen and women.
What: Box Canyon Clean-Up Project
When: December 7, 2013. 8:00 AM – 12:00 P.M.
Where: Box Canyon outside of Maricopa
Directions: From the intersection of Hwy 238 and Hwy 347 in Maricopa take Hwy 238 west to Rio Bravo Road. Head south on Rio Bravo approximately 4.5 miles and the location will be on the west side of the road. The area is just outside of the town of Maricopa and just south of the intersection of Hidden Valley Road and Farrel Road.
