As National Hunting and Fishing Day (NHFD) approaches, on Saturday, September 24, the hunting and angling conservation community across the country, including governors, allied industries, and sportsmen’s organizations, have showcased their support for this important day recognizing the conservation efforts of America’s sportsmen and women.
Nineteen governors, including 16 Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) Members signed proclamations recognizing September 24, 2016 as NHFD. The Office of Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant recently hosted a proclamation signing ceremony, which was attended by Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) Southeastern States Director Bee Frederick and members of the Mississippi Legislative Sportsmen’s’ Caucus.
Many of the proclamations, including Mississippi’s, acknowledged that “sportsmen and women were among the first conservationists” and that natural resources conservation is dependent on the economic contributions by hunters, anglers, and recreational shooters and boaters through the American System of Conservation Funding.
In addition to support from bipartisan governors across the country, 16 businesses and organizations within the sportsmen’s conservation community, including CSF, have signed up to sponsor the 2016 NHFD.
