As sportsmen and women in Michigan celebrate the New Year, the Michigan Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus is proud to recognize their continued partnership with the Hal and Jean Glassen Memorial Foundation (Foundation).
“The Glassen Foundation is proud to continue to support the Michigan Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus,” said The Hal & Jean Glassen Memorial Foundation President, Tom Huggler. “The partnership with the Caucus enhances our mission of passing on a strong outdoor heritage and conservation ethic to future generations.”
Established in 1992, the Foundation receives and administers funds for charitable and educational purposes including promoting firearms shooting skills competitions, promoting the lawful use and possession of firearms, helping fund game bird and animal research studies by schools of natural resources, supporting research of animal diseases affecting dogs and cats, and providing for the welfare of animals through organizations that are not anti-hunting.
“The Glassen Foundation’s dedication and contributions to Michigan’s hunting and outdoor heritage continue to strengthen our sportsmen’s community,” said Michigan Caucus Co-Chair and National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucus Executive Council Member Senator Mike Green. “The foundation’s support is tremendously valuable to the Michigan Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus.”
The Glassens were avid hunters who believed in the scientific management of wildlife and recognized the importance of conservation through sporting activities.
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
