The public comment period for the forthcoming National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries saltwater recreational fisheries policy began in early June. Recreational anglers and other stakeholders are encouraged to engage in the process to ensure the “set of principles to guide agency actions and decisions over the long-term” regarding recreational saltwater fisheries is truly reflective of the best interests of America’s sportfishing community.
Those interested in commenting may wish to use the Morris-Deal Commission report entitled “A Vision for Managing America’s Saltwater Recreational Fisheries,” which was formalized by fisheries experts from across the country and outlines various recommendations in six key areas for the betterment of saltwater anglers. The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, along with nine other conservation organizations, contributed to this report.
