On August 21, Co-Chairs of the Ohio Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus Senator Sean O’Brien and Senator Michael Rulli participated in a field day with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
ODNR Director Mary Mertz and other agency staff joined Sen. O’Brien and Sen. Rulli as they electroshocked fish on Conneaut Creek, discussed Ohio’s Scenic Rivers Program and learned about the area’s popular steelhead fishery.
“Spending time on the water with the ODNR was invaluable. I’m thankful for the strong work the agency carries out managing fish and wildlife resources that benefit our state’s sportsmen and women,” said Senator Rulli.
Along with Caucus Co-Chairs Representative Gil Blair and Nino Vitale, the Ohio Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus works to protect and advance the interests of Ohio 1.56 million sportsmen and women who contribute $4.3 billion to the state’s economy and last year alone generated $60.63 million for conservation through the American System of Conservation Funding.
