Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation Attends Southeastern Outdoor Press Association Annual Conference

On October 4 – 6, Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) Southeastern States Director Bee Frederick and Central Appalachian States Manager John Culclasure attended the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association (SEOPA) Annual Conference in Florence, South Carolina.

More than 130 people attended this year’s conference, including college students or recent graduates enthusiastic about promoting hunting, fishing, and recreational shooting to the next generation of sportsmen and women.

Over the course of the conference, attendees discussed a range of communication and marketing strategies tailored to promoting outdoor recreational activities. Sessions also covered various conservation issues including Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and quail management in the Southern states. Attendees also demoed off highway vehicles, tree stands and tree stand safety systems, and trap shooting.

CSF is a corporate SEOPA member, and CSF staff communicates with SEOPA members throughout the year about conservation issues affecting the Southern states.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
