A historic day is quickly approaching for Pennsylvania’s sportsmen and women, as hunters will be able to head afield for the first authorized Sunday hunting opportunity on November 15.
Thanks in large part to a valiant, decades-long legislative campaign, during which the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) worked hand-in-hand with the Pennsylvania Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus and several in-state and national conservation partners, archery hunters will be the first sportsmen and women in the Keystone State to experience the newly granted freedom to hunt on Sunday. Efforts led by Caucus Co-Chairs Sen. Dan Laughlin and Sen. Jim Brewster, as well as numerous other Caucus members, resulted in the passage and enactment of S.147 – the legislative vanguard which made Sunday hunting not only a possibility, but a reality for big game hunters throughout the Commonwealth.
November 15 marks the first of three days that have been designated as Sunday hunting opportunities. During virtual meetings hosted by the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners (PBGC) in April, the PBGC decided upon authorizing sportsmen and women to pursue game on November 15 (for archery deer hunting), November 22 (for bear hunting during the bear firearms season), and November 29 (for deer hunting during the firearms deer season).
