Founding member of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (formally known as the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus Foundation), G. Ray Arnett passed on June 20 at the age of 95.
Arnett served as the Director of the California Department of Fishing and Game from 1968-1975 under Governor Ronald Reagan. In 1980 he was appointed by then President Reagan to oversee the National Park Service and Wildlife Service as the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Fish, Wildlife and Parks. A committed conservationist, Arnett also served as the President of the National Wildlife Federation and was affiliated with multiple conservation groups across the country.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Arnett and his family as we remember his dedication to California and the sportsmen’s community.
