On Friday, April 5, the Maine Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus was officially formed and became the 41st bipartisan Caucus in the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses. Leadership of the newly formed Maine Caucus has been identified as Senators Troy Jackson and Tom Saviello, and Representatives Mike Shaw and Steve Wood.
The Maine Caucus has an identified mission of: preserving and promoting the traditional rights of Maine’s citizens to hunt, fish, and pursue outdoor activities; ensuring that Maine’s sportsmen and women have reasonable access to public lands to enjoy outdoor pursuits; protecting the investment of sportsmen and women in wildlife and fisheries management by safeguarding the integrity of the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Safety trust funds and license revenue; supporting efforts to enhance multiple use habitat management for wildlife and fisheries; recognizing the importance of hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities to our nation’s economy; and supporting the maintenance and growth of outdoor related industries and activities.
