Missouri: Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus Welcomes Governor Greitens

On June 5, the Governor Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) welcomed Missouri Governor Eric Greitens as its newest member. The GSC is a bipartisan group of governors from across the nation dedicated to protecting and advancing hunting, angling, recreational shooting, and trapping.

“I’m honored to represent the hunters and anglers of Missouri in this distinguished caucus,” said Governor Greitens. “Working with the other members of the GSC, I hope to promote the conservation of our nation’s wildlife and natural resources.”

The GSC was founded in 2009 by the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation to facilitate communication and information exchange among the nation’s Governors in support of policies that promote professional fish and wildlife management.

Governor Greitens joins the Missouri delegation from the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus as well as the members of the Missouri Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus in representing the Show Me State’s 1.28 million hunters and anglers. Missouri’s sportsmen and women annually spend over $1.67 billion, helping support close to 30,000 jobs in the state.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
