On February 8, New Jersey Angling and Hunting Conservation Caucus Co-Chair, Assemblyman Burzichelli introduced NJ A 3120, legislation that would authorize Sunday hunting for deer with a firearm on private property.
This newly introduced legislation would authorize sportsmen and women in the Garden State to hunt deer on Sundays with a firearm on private property, with certain restrictions. These restrictions include the individual possess a valid firearm hunting license or a valid “All-Around Sportsman License” if applicable, issued by the Division of Fish and Wildlife, and specifies that hunters must abide by the State Fish and Game Code. Current law in New Jersey allows Sunday bow hunting for deer on private property and state wildlife management areas.
Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
