Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf Joins Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus

On February 29, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) welcomed Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf as the 33rd member of the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC). Gov. Wolf joins a group of bipartisan governors from across the country, including one lieutenant governor, who are dedicated to protecting and advancing hunting, angling, recreational shooting, and trapping.

“I’m pleased to join the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus as a way of adding my voice to the national discussion on how to best support our sportsmen and women,” said Governor Tom Wolf.  “Hunting and fishing, along with all of the other forms of outdoor recreation, are a part of the fabric of life in Pennsylvania; maintaining and bolstering these activities is critical in terms of protecting our natural and aquatic resources.”

Established in 2009 by CSF, the GSC facilitates communication and information exchange between 33 participating offices in support of policies that protect and advance the interests of America’s sportsmen and women and promote professional fish and wildlife management. In addition to the Pennsylvania Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus and Pennsylvania Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus Members, Governor Wolf’s membership to the GSC strengthens the representation of the state’s sportsmen and women in the halls of government.

Studies conducted at both the state and federal level have found that the number of hunters and trappers have been on a generally declining trend over the past several decades. To increase recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) of hunters and trappers, which initiative do you think would have the greatest impact?
