Texas Policy Highlights

2019 – Texas passes SJR 24, which fully dedicated the revenue from the sales tax on sporting goods to the state Parks and Wildlife Department and state Historical Commission. Texas voters overwhelmingly approved the dedication of this funding in the general election with nearly 90% of the vote.

2019 – Authored by Caucus Co-Chair Representative Lyle Larson, HB 337 (nicknamed “Kali’s Law” in honor of Kali Gorzell) required all boaters to wear emergency engine cutoff switches when operating recreational motorboats less than 26 feet in length.
